Zalando sells second-hand clothing in the Netherlands from October

Zalando will also be selling second-hand clothing in the Netherlands from October. The online clothing and shoe store already did this in Germany and Spain. Customers can go to Zalando themselves with their old clothes, an algorithm then determines the price. That says Jacintha de Graaf, director for the Benelux, in conversation with Het Financieele Dagblad (FD) on Monday.

Zalando also sells second-hand clothing in the Netherlands from October. The online clothing and shoe store already did this in Germany and Spain. Customers can go to Zalando themselves with their old clothing, an algorithm then determines the price. That says Jacintha de Graaf, director for the Benelux, in conversation with Het Financieele Dagblad (FD) on Monday.

De Graaf does not yet want to say how much a customer will see of the sales price and how much Zalando itself earns from it. “It will fluctuate widely. An algorithm determines the price based on demand and the possible speed of sale.”

She does indicate that Zalando will select quite strictly and will certainly not accept all second-hand clothing. The clothes must fit Zalando, so it will mainly be clothes from brands that are already newly offered on the site. In addition, the clothing must be as good as new and there must be no stains and holes in it.

Customers who purchase the clothing may simply return the items as with new clothing if they are not satisfied.
