Willemijn Veenhoven about short Op1 adventure: ‘Wasn’t myself’

Willemijn Veenhoven (46) was not in her place at ‘Op1’. She did not manage to be herself, says the presenter in ‘Volkskrant Magazine’ about her short TV adventure.

“When I looked back at myself, I also thought: well, you have looked happier at times. Such a tight face, you know. I just couldn’t be myself,” says Willemijn. “And then you keep thinking: goddamn it, people don’t know how nice I am at all.”

Willemijn, who has years of experience with NPO Radio 1, never realized that “the laws of talk show are very strict”. “It’s the news of the day, period. Radio is much freer, at Radio 1 a lot was possible. That was also about news, but then we gave it our own crank,” she says.

I also found the daily competition difficult. what you want to make yourself. And so you are less involved. The show was not mine, I felt that strongly. ”

In the new year Willemijn returns to Radio 1 as the new presenter of Spijkers met Koppen.
