Weekly figures “worrying”, 6187 positive tests in the past 24 hours

On Monday, the RIVM reported 7134 positive tests and on Sunday more than 6,800. Last Tuesday, about 4,000 new cases were discovered.

In the past seven days, 43,103 new corona cases have been registered, an average of more than 6,150 per day. That is roughly equal to the number of new infections reported by the RIVM on Tuesday. The RIVM calls the new weekly figures “worrying”.

Amsterdam had the most new cases. In the last 24 hours, 316 residents in the capital have been tested positive. Monday there were 270 in the capital. The number of cases in The Hague increased by 212. In Rotterdam 156 new infections came to light. in Almere 106 people tested positive and in Utrecht 96.

Hospitals

The number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals increased for the third day in a row on Tuesday. In total, the hospitals are now treating 1,700 patients with Covid-19. That is 40 more than Monday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

The number of reports has fluctuated continuously in recent weeks. It is unclear why this is so: the RIVM and the GGD cannot provide a definitive answer. It is possible that this has to do with adjusting the test conditions.

Since December 1, it is also possible to have you tested if source and contact research or via the CoronaMelder app has shown that you have been in contact with an infected person. Having complaints is therefore no longer a condition.
