A very large fire broke out last night in the building of an electric boat builder in the Frisian Heeg. Fire brigade units from Sneek, Joure, Drachten, Lemmer and Bolsward had to be involved to fight the fire. The fire is now under control.
According to Omrop Fryslân, the fire raged at the electric boat builder De Stille Boot in the Frisian Heeg. A lot of smoke was released and therefore an NL-Alert was sent to people in the area. When the fire broke out, there was no one in the building, a spokesperson for the fire service wrote on Twitter. After arrival, it quickly scaled up to a very large fire. Demolition work The fire brigade has carried out demolition work with a crane to fight the fire. Although the fire is now under control, a lot of smoke is still released. That is why the issued NL-Alert remains in force for the time being. Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed and to switch off ventilation systems. How the fire started is still unclear.
