The new travel advice applies throughout the country due to the increase in the number of corona infections. “Travel to Germany only if necessary,” the ministry reports. “When you return to the Netherlands, you go into home quarantine for ten days.”
The ministry says it does not yet know what the amended advice means for border traffic, which refers to the journeys of Dutch people who work in Germany, for example. “Explanation will be provided via this travel advice as soon as possible”, is stated in the explanation. It is not clear when more information will be shared.
At the end of last month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already put ten German cities on orange due to the increasing number of infections with the corona virus. This concerned Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Aachen, Essen, Bremen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich and Mannheim.
Germany in partial lockdown since Monday
The current travel advice refers to the new corona measures in the neighboring country. A new partial lockdown has been in effect in Germany since Monday. Catering establishments, gyms, cinemas, theaters and cultural institutions must close their doors until the end of the month.
A maximum of ten people from two households may be together outside. The population is urged not to make unnecessary trips and to refrain from visiting relatives. Schools and day-care centers are allowed to stay open and shops are also allowed, subject to certain conditions.
