The new corona measures started on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. With shortened opening hours for the catering industry and stricter controls, the cabinet and the security regions want to stem the spread of the corona virus.
Measures for the six regions with the most infections
The check-in of guests in catering establishments stops at midnight. Then the music must also be turned off. Catering establishments have to close at 1.00 am.
It is forbidden to stay in a company of more than 50 people. This applies to parties, drinks and outings for groups, both indoors and outdoors. Exceptions apply for demonstrations, religious gatherings, funerals, and dance and theater performances.
There is a duty to report for meetings with more than 50 people. This applies, for example, to publicly accessible concerts in a park. There is an exception to this reporting obligation, for example for occasions where there is a flow of visitors.
Regional measures
Amsterdam will preventively close a number of parks to be announced at night to prevent illegal parties. Furthermore, public buildings such as libraries, city district offices and swimming pools will only be open at special times of the day for the elderly and people with poor health. The security region is asking shops and museums to do the same.
The Rotterdam-Rijnmond Safety Region (Rotterdam, Schiedam, Vlaardingen) will again enforce the corona measures more strictly, for example in markets and in places where there are many young people, says Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, chairman of this Safety Region.
Aboutaleb calls on supermarkets to make more efforts to comply with the corona measures. He does not rule out the recurrence of the obligation to wear a mouth mask in busy areas, but does not intend to do so for the time being.
Enforcement of compliance with the corona rules is also being intensified in the Haaglanden region. There will be inspections at catering establishments, party halls, sports facilities and student societies. If the rules are broken after a warning, it will be closed for two weeks. If the rules are repeatedly broken, it will be closed for a month. If the measures are subsequently ignored again, it will be closed for a period of three months.
Just as in Amsterdam, window times are set for vulnerable groups at government locations in The Hague, such as libraries, swimming pools and city district offices. The security region asks organizations and companies to do the same.
The Utrecht Safety Region wants student associations and sports clubs to come up with a plan of action to prevent further spread of the corona virus. Acting mayor Peter den Oudsten agreed with them on Friday.
Illegal parties are being prevented in Haarlem and the surrounding area by designating areas where people are not allowed to be present at night. For example, the Kennemerland Safety Region wants to stop the spread of the corona virus.
