Detailhandel Nederland will stop on December 31, 2020, the trade association announced Monday afternoon.

The general meeting of Detailhandel Nederland decided last week to end the activities of the umbrella organization at the end of this year.

The visions of those involved have recently turned out to be too far apart. According to the trade association, there was therefore too little support for a collective representation of the interests of retail by Detailhandel Nederland.

A wide range of organizations fall under the umbrella organization. The supporters include CBL (supermarkets), RND (chain stores) and the National Shopping Council. The member organizations will continue to exist.

Detailhandel Nederland has announced that it is still looking for new ways in which the retail sector in the Netherlands can be collectively represented.
