Small windfall: Pathé offers free films during lockdown

During the partial lockdown, cinema operator Pathé will be offering a free film every day via streaming service Pathé Thuis for the next two weeks. The group announced this on Thursday.

These are titles that have recently appeared in the cinemas, such as the thriller Hotel Mumbai, about the attack on the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in 2009, or the award-winning comedy Booksmart. Every day at 9.00 am, Pathé’s social media channels report on the film of the day. “In this way, we make this closing period just a little bit more fun for our visitors,” said commercial director Doron Kurz.

Pathé also initiated a similar action in April, during the first corona lockdown. In total, more than one million people took advantage of the opportunity to see a film in this way.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced on Tuesday that cinemas, theaters and museums must close their doors for two weeks from Thursday to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
