The RIVM reported 10,211 positive tests on Sunday. It was already clear in advance that this number would not be correct: due to ICT problems at the GGDs, too few tests were reported on Saturday. The too low number was corrected on Sunday.
As a result, the figure is very high on Sunday. For comparison: Friday the RIVM registered 9996 positive tests, the highest number so far. Initially, the number was even slightly higher, 10,007, but that was corrected a day later.
On Saturday, the RIVM reported 8,669 positive test results, but that number was actually higher.
The number of infections continued to increase last week, despite the tightened corona measures. They took effect on Wednesday 14 October at 10 p.m. Sunday was the eleventh day on which the newest measures, including the catering closure, were in effect all day. According to the RIVM, 99 percent of infected people who develop symptoms develop within ten days of infection.
It could therefore be that some people who contracted the corona virus on Wednesday last week, only got health problems at the beginning of this weekend and still have to get tested. However, complaints usually arise after five or six days, according to the RIVM. A lot of people may have already been tested who contracted the virus after the tightening.
Patients in the hospitals
The total number of corona patients admitted is 2145, 30 more than the previous day. This is reported by the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS). Of these, 1,657 are outside the intensive care unit, 43 more than yesterday. There are 488 covid-19 patients on the IC, 13 fewer than the day before.
The total IC occupancy is 909 (of which 2 in Germany), 21 less than Saturday. The number of new corona admissions is 191 in the clinic and 28 in the ICU.
