Prime Minister Rutte has just announced these measures

Prime Minister Mark Rutte has announced in a speech from Het Torentje which corona measures are being taken.

– non-essential stores will close, such as clothing stores and garden centers. Essential shops, such as supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies, will remain open;

– contact professions such as hairdressers, sex workers and beauticians also come to a standstill. Medical contact professions such as physiotherapists and dentists are not included;

– gyms, swimming pools and saunas will be closed;

– the urgent advice is to receive only two instead of three people at home (indoors and outdoors). An exception is made for Christmas (24, 25 and 26 December), in which case it may be three;

– museums, zoos, theaters and amusement parks, the so-called transfer locations, will be closed;

– from Wednesday, primary, secondary and higher education will be closed; online lessons should be given as much as possible;

– the hotels remain open, but are no longer allowed to serve food and drinks, including room service;

– take away food remains possible;

– premier league and top sport competitions continue, without an audience;

– there will be no curfew;

The measures will take effect tonight at midnight and will last until at least January 19.
