‘No European Championship in Amsterdam, UEFA wants to play a tournament in one country’

UEFA probably wants to organize the European Football Championship next summer in one country. Due to the 60th anniversary, the tournament would be played in 12 countries.

The French Le Parisien reports this. UEFA is investigating whether the tournament, which was previously postponed by a year due to the corona virus, can also be played in one country. In the current situation, it is unlikely that selections from the 24 countries will be able to travel across the continent.

Russia

The French daily says it is a serious option to have the tournament take place in Russia. The organizer of the World Cup in 2018 would even have offered himself. Practically it seems logical, because the stadiums and infrastructure are still good. Reason for doubt, however, is the number of infections in the country. There are doubts about the figures released by the Kremlin.

The tournament starts next summer on June 11 and has its final on July 11. There are also four matches planned in the Johan Cruijff Arena: the three group matches of the Dutch national team and an eighth final. These activities are therefore by no means certain.
