A new wolf has been spotted on the Veluwe, most likely a male. A she-wolf has been seen before in the south of the national park, but she has now also been recorded together with a male.
If the two stay together, they will become the second wolf couple living in the Netherlands. A wolf family is already established in the North Veluwe. Wolf tourism Natuurmonumenten announced the discovery today. For safety reasons, Natuurmonumenten does not want to say where the two wolves have been seen, in order to prevent ‘wolf tourism’. Forester Frank Theunissen expresses the expectation that the second wolf is a male. “You can see in the images that the wolf is bigger and that he lifts his paw to urinate. That is proof enough to me that it is a male.” Chance of cubs The question is whether the two wolves will form a pair, also because the new wolf has only been around for a short time. If that is the case, then, according to the forester, there is a good chance that cubs will arrive this spring.
