Every week, Netflix expands its range with new films and series. With this week a lot of extra film classics.
Series
Emily in Paris (season 1)
A new series from Darren Star, creator of Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place and Sex and the City. In Emily in Paris, the American Emily moves to the French branch of the marketing company she works for. In, yes, Paris. The city of love turns out to be a difficult destination: the mentality is very different and Emily does not speak a word of French. Fortunately there is a handsome downstairs neighbor.
Jane the Virgin (season 5)
We had to wait a year and a half for it, but since this week it has finally happened: the fifth season of Jane the Virgin is on Netflix. We immediately get to see more of Michael, Jane’s dead husband who isn’t dead after all.
Carmen Sandiego (season 3)
Speaking of Jane the Virgin, lead actress Gina Rodriguez returns to voice Carmen Sandiego in season 3 of the animated series of the same name. This modern-day Robin Hood figure takes on the Villains International League of Evil, aka V.I.L.E. Will Carmen be able to defeat this criminal giant?
Movies
The Shining
In The Shining, we see how writer Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) slowly becomes more and more manic due to the demons that inhabit The Overlook Hotel. Son Danny and his wife Wendy have to pay for it. A true horror classic, even if Stephen King himself doesn’t like the film.
Òlòtūréo
A fierce and poignant Netflix Original about a journalist in Lagos. He poses as a prostitute to map human trafficking. She finds herself in a world full of exploited women and merciless violence.
The Boys in the Band
Seven gay friends gather in New York in 1968 for a party at one of the men, Michael (Jim Parsons). When an old acquaintance makes an appearance, the party takes a completely different turn. All men are suddenly confronted with the hidden past of their friends and their own.
Jumanji: The Next Level
All the characters from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle return in the sequel, The Next Level. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillian face even greater challenges and the same is true of the people who run them.
Vampires vs. The Bronx
In this Netflix Original horror comedy, a young group of friends from The Bronx discovers that vampires are prowling their neighborhood. Obviously, not everyone believes these special findings, so the boys decide to go out with garlic at the ready themselves.

In the Song Exploder documentary series, we get to see in-depth interviews with artists who meticulously explain how their own songs are put together. With the band members of R.E.M. that dissect Losing My Religion.
Dick Johnson is Dead
In Dick Johnson is Dead, filmmaker Kirsten Johnson helps herself and her father deal with the approaching end. Father continues to decline. By staging accidents, he dies several times and strangely enough that helps to deal with this unavoidable but difficult situation as well as possible. A special documentary that deals with the theme of ‘death’ in a very inventive way.
