Safety chairman Peter Snijders calls on residents of IJsselland to better adhere to the corona rules. If they don’t, local measures are imminent. There has been a “worrying growth” of corona infections in IJsselland last week.
“An appeal to our residents has always worked up to now. The strength is in repetition,” says Snijders. He is concerned about the consequences if the current trend continues. “We see that people want to comply with the rules, but we now want to make them more alert to the importance, also in our region. Emphasize the urgency.”
Bianca de Greef, spokesperson for the IJsselland Safety Region, adds: “Fortunately, we are still a region without additional regional measures. But if this trend continues, we will not escape it. And extra measures are something that we all do not want.”
To care
In the corona dashboard – a website with different figures about the number of corona infections – there are no alarming signal values for IJsselland. “But that could change very quickly if the increase in our municipalities continues as it did this week. Two weeks ago the number of infections was really very low.”
Rianne van de Berg, director of the GGD IJsselland, is concerned about the increasing numbers, she says in a statement. “The negative trend must not continue. After all, we do not want to go back to the situation of months ago. It is difficult to always stick to the measures, but I want to emphasize the importance of everyone continuing to take their responsibility.”
Rising curve
The rising figures are causing concern for the safety region. “That is why we have to go back to basics in IJsselland, we have to keep to the corona rules again. Think of working from home as much as possible, keeping a distance of 1.5 meters and as few visits to each other as possible,” said De Greef.
Measures
What possible measures should we consider? De Greef: “That cannot be said now. It is about the nature of the contamination. If there are a hundred infections at a football club, then there will be other measures than the fact that there are many infections in catering establishments.”
Based on the current situation, the catering industry in IJsselland need not be afraid of measures in IJsselland. “Infections are now mainly caused by private parties, family gatherings, work situations and via returners from foreign trips. There are also a few cases from the education sector.
“The catering industry is therefore not the biggest source of contamination. Moreover, enforcement works quite well in that sector. If entrepreneurs cross borders, they usually adjust their behavior after checking or warning”, says De Greef.
Gelderland
In the North and East Gelderland Safety Region, there was a slight increase in the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants compared to previous weeks.
Spokesperson Heidi Otten: “At the moment no local measures are to be expected from us. We monitor closely. Nationwide it is increasing, so we must also be sharp. The national government provides figures and signal value.” Green is acceptable. “If we come to orange areas, yes, we have to think about measures.”
It is still difficult to say what these measures will be, according to Otten. “That depends on the situation: what does that situation require?”
Flevoland
The Flevoland Safety Region responds briefly to the question of whether local measures can be expected. Spokesperson Wendelien Eringa: “As soon as any regional measures are taken in Flevoland, we will inform about them.”
Harderwijk
Harderwijk is the only municipality in the region with a local measure. The catering industry must close after 2.00 am. Spokesperson Bart Bijvank of the municipality of Harderwijk: “We notice and think that people in the hospitality industry are less observing the rules in the last few hours. With a few more sips it becomes more difficult to keep a distance, and more difficult to estimate distances.”
