Princesses Amalia (16) and Alexia (15) did not return when King Willem-Alexander (53) and Queen Máxima (49) ended their vacation. The royal family was on holiday in Greece, but only some of them returned to the Netherlands, the RVD confirms to RTL Boulevard.
The Dutch king and queen were called back when they left for Greece with the family for a holiday. Their youngest daughter Princess Ariane took the next flight with her parents, but her older sisters stayed a little longer. The RVD confirms this to RTL Boulevard. The reason would be that there were not enough plane tickets back to the Netherlands when the royal family would abort their holiday.
“This day was consciously chosen”, Justine Marcella reports in RTL Boulevard. When the tickets turned out to be gone, the choice was quickly made to leave Amalia and Alexia in Greece. But the princesses did not go for the next available flight and were allowed to stay in Greece. Meanwhile, the princesses have landed and are back home with their parents.
There was a lot of criticism on the holiday of the Dutch royal family, after which they decided to return. You can see all about it in the video below.
