It is not entirely unexpected that the figure for the past seven days is higher. The daily RIVM data already showed that the daily record with regard to the number of positive tests had been broken several times. The actual number of infections is probably higher, because not everyone is willing or able to have themselves tested.
Of all persons who were tested for the coronavirus in the past week, 6.1 percent tested positive. In the week before, that was only 3.9 percent. With 192,255 corona tests, more than 3,000 fewer tests were taken than in the previous week.
The RIVM reports that North Holland, South Holland, Utrecht and Groningen are the provinces with the most infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Although most positive tests are still administered among people in the 20 to 29 age group, the number of positive results is increasing in all age groups.
Also more deaths and hospital admissions
In addition, 33 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded, more than a week earlier (14). The RIVM also reports on Tuesday that 152 hospital admissions have been reported. That is also more than in the week before (92).
Especially in the west of the country more recordings are taking place. More and more corona patients are in hospital at the same time. Patients in busy regions have recently been scattered to evenly distribute the pressure on care. The National Network Acute Care (LNAZ) expects the increase in the number of occupied beds to continue in the coming week.
Due to the negative development of the figures, additional measures have been applied in regions with many infections since Sunday. For example, the catering industry is no longer allowed to admit new visitors after midnight and there is a ban on parties and other group activities with more than 50 people.
