Radio 538 sidekick Klaas van der Eerden is a supporter of Ajax but for charity he sang the Feyenoord club song live on the radio on Friday. Klaas thus raised more than 23,000 euros for the ‘Mission 538’ campaign. The radio station tries to collect as much money as possible through various campaigns, intended to buy food packages.
Listeners of Radio 538 challenged Van der Eerden, also a comedian and television presenter, to sing the well-known ‘Hand in hand comrades’ this week. He promised to play the Feyenoord club song live for one time if at least 10,000 euros would be paid for it. For 20,000 euros he would also do that in a shirt of the Rotterdam club. With the help of Feyenoord icon Dirk Kuijt, who called on the supporters to donate money, more than 23,000 euros was raised. And so the 45-year-old Van der Eerden had to sing all the verses live on the radio in a Feyenoord shirt, with his first name and the number 45 on it. The images showed that he did this with clear reluctance. Except for a few deliberate slips of the tongue, he stuck to the text.
