Today it is exactly 16 years ago that Theo van Gogh was murdered cold-blooded in Amsterdam. Katja Schuurman (45) is one of the Dutch who pays attention to his death today. She shares a photo of them together on social media.
About three months before the fatal day, Katja was together with Theo. Their moment together has been captured on film. What Katja did not know at the time is that this is the last image she would make with Theo before his death. She calls it an eternal sin that the director is no longer with us.
‘Eternal sin it is … Love! For God sake. Nothing else should be preached, propagated, and lived in God’s name. Love. For what is God if it is not love? ‘ she wonders aloud. Theo and I, just over three months before his death. It is eternal sin .. Love! For God sake. In God’s name nothing else should be preached, propagated, and lived. Love. Because what is God if it isn’t love?

On November 2, 2004, Theo van Gogh was murdered in Lineausstraat by Muslim extremist Mohammed Bouyeri. He is serving a life sentence for the murder. During his working life, Theo was regularly discredited by his often provocative films, columns, books and statements in the media, which led to angry reactions.
For example, he made the short film Submission together with former VVD MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The film showed four abused Muslim women with knives inscribed Arabic texts in their bodies. In this way they said they exposed the ‘cruelty of Islam’. Hirsi Ali then had to go into hiding because of the threats to her.
Fortunately, Katja Schuurman is loving enough of her Freek herself and recently gave birth to their daughter Coco Loulou.
