We do not have to count on major loosening of the corona measures for the upcoming holidays. Sources report this to the political editorial staff of RTL Nieuws. The maximum group size at home may be slightly extended for a few days. The most involved ministers and a number of top advisers discussed the corona measures at the Catshuis today.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge will give a press conference, in which they will announce which measures will apply before Christmas.
Infections
Given the high contamination figures, hardly any relaxation is possible, it can be heard. At most, the maximum allowed group size can be temporarily increased, specifically for the holidays. At the moment it is recommended to receive a maximum of three people at home. The OMT has previously discussed a temporary expansion of six guests in the house, instead of three.
Entire list of eases
The cabinet had submitted a whole list of possible relaxation to the Outbreak Management Team (OMT). For example, we are looking at a larger group size for cultural institutions, a limited opening of the restaurants (the so-called ‘dry catering industry’) and the earlier closure of schools.
The partial lockdown has been in effect in our country since mid-October. It is expected that this package of measures will be extended even further.
catering industry
All cafés and restaurants have been closed in the Netherlands since mid-October. Insiders expect no change or relaxation for the hard-hit sector yet.
Additional financial support is being prepared for the most affected sectors. Ministers Hoekstra (Finance), Wiebes (Economic Affairs) and Koolmees (Social Affairs) are expected to present the new interpretation of the support package on Wednesday.
Tomorrow the cabinet will meet with the mayors of the 25 security regions in our country. There is a cabinet meeting on Tuesday during the day to take the official decisions and there is a press conference at 7 p.m.
