In the Austrian capital Vienna, an attack was committed on Monday evening in which four people were killed and several people were injured. According to the authorities of Austria, the attacker was a supporter of IS.
“Utrecht stands in solidarity with Austria. Our thoughts go out to all victims, relatives and those involved in the horrific terrorist attack in Vienna. The city flag in front of the city office is half-mast for them,” the municipality reported on Twitter.
On Monday, the flags on the buildings of Utrecht University were still at half mast. This is a reminder of the murder of the French teacher Samuel Paty.
On October 30, the flags of the municipality were hung at half mast because of the attack in Nice. “Utrecht is next to Nice”, the municipality said at the time.
