A firefighter was killed in a work accident at an apartment complex in Den Dolder.
The fire brigade had come to a report of flooding in the complex on the Dolderseweg in the Utrecht village. According to RTV Utrecht, the firefighter fell while walking around in a four-meter-deep elevator shaft.
Many emergency services arrived on the scene, but assistance was no longer of use.

According to a spokesperson for the Utrecht Safety Region, what exactly happened is being investigated. The dismay among colleagues is great, said the spokesman. Victim support has been called in for them.
