The cabinet announced last Wednesday that there were plans to open seven large test streets in the Netherlands. One of them could possibly come to Utrecht. In recent days, the municipality and GGD Utrecht have been working on the realization of the XL test location in the city.
Agreement has been reached with the Jaarbeurs about setting up a large test street on the west side of the site. There is also a mobile laboratory. Construction of the test street started on Friday.
“In order to cope with the increasing demand for corona tests, GGD region Utrecht will scale up considerably in the coming period. We are responding to this with this XL test location”, says Judith Ludding of GGD region Utrecht.
People who want to be tested for the corona virus at this new location have to walk through the test street. Cars can be parked on site.
In addition to administering the regular PCR test, GGD region Utrecht will eventually also start administering rapid tests at this location.
