Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Femke Heemskerk, Kim Busch and Maaike de Waard have broken the world record in the 4×50 meter freestyle at short course competitions in Eindhoven on Saturday. the Dutch foursome recorded 1.32.50 and was therefore much faster than the old record, which was also the Netherlands. In 2017 Kromowidjojo and Heemskerk swam with Valerie van Loon and Tamara van Vliet at the European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen to 1.33.91. Short course swimming is non-Olympic. Kromowidjojo and Heemskerk were very successful in the relay on the long track in the past. In the 4×100 meters they took gold at the 2008 Games in Beijing and four years later there was silver at the Games in London.
