The Danish-Dutch co-production Another Round (Druk) was voted best European film of 2020 in Berlin. The film also won three other major awards.
Another Round is about four teacher friends who hear that light intoxication is good for your creativity. They therefore try to keep the alcohol content in their blood at a constant level. Best Actor In addition to the prize for best film, Another Round also won the prize for best screenplay, best director and best actor (Mads Mikkelsen). The European Film Awards are seen as the European counterpart to the Oscars. Halina Reijn was nominated for a Discovery Award for her film Instinct, the prize for best European debut. In that film, Carice van Houten plays a psychologist who develops feelings for a TBS’er. But that prize went to the Italian Carlo Sironi for his film Sole.
