Amsterdam city council is not currently leasing new electric cars

The Amsterdam council of mayor and aldermen will continue to drive the current hybrid BMWs. The lease of new Audi electric SUVs is being shelved.

The Amsterdam council of mayor and aldermen will continue to drive the current hybrid BMWs. The lease of new Audi electric SUVs is being shelved.

This is stated in the municipal budget for the coming year that was presented on Thursday.

The city council would conclude a new lease contract for the electric Audi e-trons. But “because the Commission does not consider it desirable to enter into a lease contract for a period of four years now”, that decision has been put on hold.

Due to the corona crisis, the municipality has to deal with sharply declining income and cuts have to be made in its own organization, among other things. The budget states that “the desirable number and type of cars” will be reviewed.
