The new library in the center of Alphen aan den Rijn will officially open its doors on Saturday. The Alphen transmission mast is therefore illuminated in orange, the color for which the Rijn en Venen Library is known.

The new library will be the “living room of the city”, as director Hester van Beek called it in an earlier interview. It will be a building where you can go to relax and where you become part of the social life. The many tables, chairs and benches that can be found in the library are also part of this vision.

The building also houses the VVV, Grand Café KADE 10, WerkVinden2.0, the Heritage Center, and the House of Sustainability. There is also a bicycle shed and a parking garage.

The base color of the transmission tower is white, green and white, a reference to Alphen aan den Rijn as the center of the Green Heart of Holland. The light schedule responds to important days and events that deserve public attention.
