My dead mother is demanding a recount”, responds Van Dis, who also celebrates his 74-year birthday on Wednesday. “We are both very honored with this happy news.” In Ik kom back, Van Dis writes about a woman who suddenly becomes very candid with her son and asks if he wants to become her biographer. In exchange, he must deliver her a soft death. Van Dis made his debut in 1983 with the novella Nathan Sid, which was awarded the Gouden Ezelsoor. He has also written books such as Indian Dunes (1994), Familieziek (2002) and De Wandelaar (2002). His new novel KLIFI will be published in February 2021.
