Commissioner Thierry Breton (Internal Market) called streaming services on Wednesday to reduce HD to SD quality videos. Videos with standard definition are not as detailed or sharp videos in high definition.

Netflix also responded to the call, from Thursday the video streaming service reduces the bitrate for streamed videos across Europe. Netflix estimates that the measure provides for 25 percent less traffic.
