The Dutch emergency search for a 14-year-old German girl who went missing Saturday during a swim in the North Sea to Ameland.
Five lifeboats of the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM), a Coast Guard helicopter, island residents and the police and Saturday-night hours searched in the sea and on the beach, but have not found the girl. The search was stopped around 03:30 hours because of the capsizing of the tide.
The girl was Saturday evening swim with her father and sister at the height of Nes. The three touched therewith in the problems, according to the Coast Guard. The father and sister were able to save themselves and struck around 22:30 alarm, because the 14-year-old did not see more. In those circumstances, a large-scale search operation has been started.
It is Sunday sought with multiple units, both on the water and on the beach, the dunes and the wider area, “police said. Also a lifeboat and coastguard aircraft are used in the search.
