The construction project First Oosterparkstraat won the Amsterdam Nieuwbouwprijs. The new development won 20 percent of the total 7,500 votes.
First Oosterparkstraat 88-126 consists of 26 apartments for the private sector and 13 for the social housing sector. Also, there are a large supermarket and several shops in the complex. The original late nineteenth century buildings were not suitable for these plans. To still the old character of the buildings taken to preserve parts of the original buildings in the new building.
The existing buildings have been raised ground floor (the piano nobile) and here and there an extra floor. Also characteristic elements of the original buildings, such as anchors facade, balcony railings and ornaments reused.
The Amsterdam Nieuwbouwprijs is an audience for new construction in the city. It was at this twelfth edition to new building projects completed between August 2018 and August 2019. A pre-selection of fifty projects were ten projects it to the finals.
In second place is the Pontsteiger and third place is shared by Urban Garden West, CPO Science Park in Watergraafsmeer, which previously won the Zuiderkerkprijs and CPO Halles – Popping the halls of the Bilderdijkkade. The winner of last year was Ship in Spaarndammerbuurt.
