On the day Andre Hazes would have turned 69 years, decorates a Lego version of the folk singer Dam. The designer is Streetart Frankey who wanted to make something for every visitor to the Dam. “It is an icon for Amsterdam.”
Hazes enthusiasts will recognize the singer directly to his typical black suit, sunglasses, hat and microphone. The designer, Frankey street art – among others famous for his weekly streetart page in Het Parool – requested by the undertakings dam to create a temporary work of art to decorate the square boring concrete blocks.
Frankey soon came up with the idea to create a Lego version of Hazes, in collaboration with Dutch Deco Finish. “The dam is at times not been so calm as in the past few months, a few pigeons after then.” Therefore Frankey seemed like a good time for “an iconic statue Amsterdam. “One that does not leave after four hours of work, such as living statues are there, but quietly stays in his Lego bricks and beholds the city … or maybe sings, if you listen carefully.”
